Turtle Bay Resort

This is the last set of my Hawaii photos.  On our last full day in Hawaii we got to visit Turtle Bay Resort in the north shore of Oahu.  Recently this resort was used in the filming of the movie “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”.  Unfortunately for me I had not seen the movie when I visited the resort, I did watch it a couple days after visiting.  Here are some photos from the resort:

Diamond Head

Here are some photos from Diamond Head State Monument in Hawaii.  Some of these photos were taken at Puu Ualakaa Park on Round Top Drive facing Diamond Head State Monument.

Makapuu Point

On the east shore of Oahu in Hawaii is Makapuu point just off Highway 72.  The hike to the top of the point was about 2.5 miles.  At the top is a light house that was great for some photos.  Along the way there were several great stop points.  Here are some photos from that hike :

How can you travel to Hawaii and not go to a Luau?  Went to Germain’s Luau which featured all the same Hawaiin/Polynesian cultural events as other luau’s.  I didnt think there would be much to photograph but I was pretty suprised.  The highlight of the show was the fire-knife dance known as the “Tooth of Death”.  This gave me an opportunity to mount my gorillapod to the railing and take some photos of the fire twirler.

If you look closely you can see fire on his tongue

Pearl Harbor – Hawaii July 2008

I was in Hawaii from July 17-22nd a short 6 days.  During this time I took over 1,000 photos not including the wedding photos.  I visited Hawaii 2 years ago, but this trip was the first time with a DSLR my trusty Canon 40D.  Last time I had $99 Sony point and shoot, those photos are on an external hard drive and might get uploaded to flickr one day.  Since I have so many photos I will be breaking down each of them into sets on flickr and then into one giant Hawaii 2008 collection.

This first set is of Pearl Harbor.  This was my second trip ever to Pearl Harbor, my first one was when I was younger and don’t remember to much.  It was a very cloudy and windy day which made it pretty hard to shoot through the water and capture pictures of the USS Arizona under water.

Here are a few of my favorites from the set:
